Nintendo Unveil an Awesome Beat Em Up With Wii’s Tournament of Legends!

Posted by admin under Arts, Entertainment and Music

The list of Nintendo Wii exclusive Beat Em Up titles continues to grow this year as running hot on the heels of Tatsunoko vs Capcom we have an entirely new game; Wii’s Tournament of Legends. From developers High Voltage, this game is the first in a planned series of weapons-based fighters.

Wii’s Tournament of Legends centres around Greek and Roman mythology, that includes fighters primarily based on legends from that period. Every character is armed with a unique weapon, yet as the campaign mode progresses this weapon may be improved and levelled up with various talents, which aids in making combat fairly diverse.

The gameplay is as standard for a Beat Em Up, but a number of fascinating additions have been thrown in. The camera tracks to favour the player dealing the most injury, so when you’re administering a bit of a thrashing to your enemy the camera will zoom in on your actions. Furthermore, every stage in Wii’s Tournament of Legends features a ‘Guardian’, an NPC that will charge in at chance intervals to assault you and your enemy. These assaults should be avoided or countered, and add an extra dynamic to the genre.

The Wiimote and Nunchuk are each used in Wii’s Tournament of Legends, and every controller corresponds to both your right or left hand as you assault and shield. Nonetheless, joy pad recognition is featured for those who like the old-fashioned way.

This game is looking to be another stunning Wii Beat Em Up. The combat is looking solid enough and the little extras help to spice up a tried and tested formula. The subject matter is fresh and makes a decent change to the standard range of characters we would normally see. Wii’s Tournament of Legends is released this summer season, and could well be worth testing!
